Jackie Brown (1997)
This is an 1997 crime film which has the themes of love, work and deceit. The film was written and directed by Quentin Tarantino it was produced by Lawrence Bender. It had been funded by Miramx films with a budget of $12,000,000 and had made a gross of $40,000,000. The key cast were Pam Grier, Samuel L. Jackson, Robert Foster, Micheal Keaton and Robert De Niro. The film hadn't won any awards however it was nominated for an Oscar for best best supporting actor. The film follows a woman called Jackie Brown who is one day arrested for caring $10,000 and some cocaine for Ordell a known gun sales man, she is bailed out by him so he can kill her however she intends to get her freedom by giving him to the police and walking away with $500,000 of Ordell's money. For this is shall be looking at cinematography and misc en scene.
In the money exchange section the film is filmed from three different camera angels these being of Jackie's, Louis and Max. As the film progresses in this section you see the different points of view. The point of this is too show what each of the other characters had been doing at that point. The first time was viewed form Jackie's point of view when watching it you don't get to see or hear Louis or Max. When Jackie comes out of the dressing room she seems to be panicking making the audience panic as it gives the idea that Max wasn't there and something went wrong. After that you watch Louis Melanie's point of view of the situation when you do you see that Max was there and the two do acknowledge each other. When Melanie goes in it causes the audience to wonder what's going to happen putting them in suspense as the camera follows her. When it reaches the point with Max it shows all of the missing points in the film as it shows how he did get the money however one of the best shots of his part is when him and Jackie see each other letting the audience know that her panicking was just her acting.
Throughout the scene the colour yellow is seen. It' seen by a mug of Max's in his office Jackie as well has a yellow mug showing the connection the two have. Ordell is often seen wearing a yellow jacket as well. Having this shows how the lot are related to each other as they are all working for bad causes. However Ray who is working for the police force is not seen with the colour yellow. It tells the relationship all the characters have to the audience as Jackie and Max have the strongest and two show it they have the same item while Ordell has a jacket showing they have differences however they are slightly similar. Ray not being linked to the colour yellow shows that he doesn't understand nor is apart of that type of world.
Jerry Maguire (1996)

For this is hall be looking at Misc en scene and Performance.
This part shall be looking at Misc en scene. Early on in the film Jerry is sitting up in first class and Dorthy is sitting in second class. To show that the two are in different classes you can tell the clothing of the other people in the classes as in Jerry's first most people have suits and dresses while the people of second are wearing more casual things and the people in first are also offered lots of champagne what often considered to be a luxury item. However the set piece what shows this the most is the curtain as it is separating the two. It's telling the audience that the two are are from two different worlds one what is filled with luxuries and another what isn't and is more real and down to earth.
At the biggest turning point in the film what really starts it off we have Jerry trying to hold on to one of his clients Rod Tidwell. To do this he is asked to say something "Show me the money." When he does this Rod asks him to yell it at the top of his voice. When this happens it very clearly and loudly showing the audience that he is desperate as you can see the strain on his face and how he has bended to his tune trying to maintain onto one his clients.

The film is based of a true story of a woman of the same name noticed something strange when working investigated it and it turned out to be a large scandal by a power and electricity company. For this I shall be looking at Misc en scene and performance.
For this I shall be looking at Misc en scene. In one scene Erin comes home to find George looking after her children, after she sends her children the two have a conversation while the two tidy up. In this Erin is sorting out a pile of playing cards into the right piles it is meant top symbolizing that she is at that point trying to sort out her life, an extension of this could be Erin trying to sort her life out with George as they are his cards. It would be telling the audience that she is confused what she has to do with her life.
At another point in the film Erin is asked to leave her work alone and to hand it over. When this happens she refuses with a clear fiery passion as there is anger in her voice and a sense of defence as she has worked on that for a long time only for it to be taken away. It very clearly and loudly tell she audience that she cares for this work and for the people it has affected and will do. In addition it reminds the audience again that she is a strong person and will stand by her work.

The production company was Double Feature Films and FilmColony. The key cast where Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Walter Goggins, Demian Bichir, Tim Roth, Michael Madson and Bruce Dern. $62,000,000 and so far has mad $43,000,000. The film has been nominated for many awards however it did win a golden globe for best original score. This is a film about when Eight people have to go through a storm together however they start to learn that they all may not make it after all. Films what are similar to it are "Reservoir Dogs" and "The Thing". No one else has had any other movies released with them in as this was only done a couple days ago. For this is shall be looking at Misc en scene and performance.
This is a look at the performance of mostly Daisy (Which has been Oscar nominated). Just after Jody dies the camera is pointed at Daisy with a close up. When this happens you can see all the little pieces of his head in Daisy's hair. This clearly has traumatized Daisy as she has such a clear look of shock and disgust. It tells the audience that she clearly cared greatly for her brother and they both meant allot to each other. In addition the shock what is seen on her face would also be for the fact that her chances of escaping have been servery lowered. All of this still brings a mixture emotions to the audience shock as Jody had just been killed so suddenly, disgust as you are able to see the little pieces of him all along the set and cast and joy as he was one of the antagonists and "A ball shooting coward son of a bitch." line form Warren and the fact you wish to start laughing with Samuel L. Jackson.
For this bit I shall be looking at the misc en scene of the Abraham letter. All throughout he movie there is a constant reference to this letter. The most important times are when John Ruth asks to read, when the Sheriff says that the letter is a lie making Warren admit it is and the ending when the letter is finally read out and thrown away. The purpose of this letter is to represent the life of Warren. At the start with having the letter is in good condition and has been well received. Except for Daisy who spits on the letter showing her disgust for it and Warren, another sign is that she clearly doesn't' like him is that she constantly calls him the N-word (Cause I'm sure how people will take me quoting the film though no one from the film cares about it will see me as being racist) even though she's been told they don't like being called that any more. It shows the audience that Warren is someone of importance. In the middle where the letter is deemed to be a lie it is done by the Sheriff it is done as he doesn't believe that he would be pen pals with he president of the united states quoting the Sheriff "I don't believe that this N-word (No one cares) was friends with the president of the united states." When this happens John Ruth is clearly hurt as he been lied to however it tells the audience that Warren is also as bad as the rest of the cast as he has lied to everyone for a long time. At the end when the letter is finally read out Sheriff and Warren are about to die however just before the letter is scrunched up and thrown away. This is telling the audience that Warren has nothing left to hide and that when the letter is scrunched up and used it shows that Warren's life is no used and up.

The Birds (1963)
This is a horror film from 1963. It is directed and produced by Alfred Hitchcock written by Daphne Du Maurier. The key cast was Tippi Hedren, Suzanne Pleshette and Rod Taylor. The budget of the film $2,500,000 the film made $11,400,000. The film has themes of Love, Family and animals. The only award the film got was a golden globe for best new actress. This is a film where a young wealthy woman pursues another young good looking man to northern California however something strange comes over the birds. One of the most key scenes is the school scene where the school children are attacked by the birds. For this I shall be looking at sound and performance.
In this I will be looking at the sound. In one part Melanie is outside in a school playground and birds start to gather just behind on the playground. In this there is really one thing what can be heard being the school children singing their song. The importance of this song is that it's a looping song which gets longer as it goes on, as the song gets longer more birds appear until the songs ends where the playground is full of birds. The affect it has on the audience is that the tension is slowly but greatly by having silence on screen while having the children perform their song off screen. Having the children sing all positively while off screen is also unsettling as it creates the terrifying feeling that the children maybe also have their eyes ripped out as seen earlier.
For this section I shall be looking at the performance. Later on in the film Melanie is looking in the attic and is then suddenly attacked. When this happens you can see the panic on her face as she has just discovered a large quantity of birds hiding upstairs. Her body language shows how she's feeling as at the start she's standing up showing the audience that she is being resistant to the birds and they won't defeat her. However as the scene progresses she starts to fall and moves allot less showing the audience that she has given up and is lying down and taking it.
