Inglorious Basterds (2009) and Miracle at St.Maria (2008) compassion
Warning high amounts of bashing is approaching
Miracle at StMarina is a 2009 war film which has the themes of brotherhood, loyalty and culture. It was Directed by Spike Lee. Produced by Spike Lee, Luigi Munsini and Roberto Cicutto. The film stars Derek Luke, Michael Ealy, Laz Alonso and Omar Benson Miller. The film was funded by 40 Acres & a mule films with a budget of $45,000,000 and had made $7,000,000. The only award it had won was the Houston film critics society awards for the best original score. The film tells the story of four African-American soldiers who are in a Italian Village who face a few challenges while they are there. As a side note what is personal I really do not like this film and clearly others didn't and the theory of that some film critics are sublimely racist is jot viable as African-American critics felt this wasn't good enough to be in the top 5 best films of 2008.
Inglorious Basterds is a 2009 action film which has the themes film, war and spies. The film was written and Directed by Quentin Tarantino and produced by Lawrence Bender. The film stars Brad Pitt, Christopher Waltz, Melanie Laurent and Eli Roth. The film was funded by Weinstien company with a budget of $75,000,000 what had made $120,000,000. The film had won an Oscar for best supporting actor with Christopher Waltz. The film follows two different stories the Basterds who are a group of Nazi hunters and Shosanna who plans to kill all of the Nazis in her cinema.
The comparisons the film has are that it focuses largely one on a squad of soldiers who of a minority. In St.Anna it is the fact they are African Americans meanwhile in contrast in Basterds they mostly Jewish, mostly as Stiglitz was German wouldn't of been able to serve if he was Jewish. The thing the films have in common is that the characters are helped by a commanding nazi officer at near the end in Basterds Col. Hans Landa captures the two Americans and they stay in each others company until the end of the film. While in St.Anna it is only a brief encounter however he lets him go off free.
The differences the films have however are still present in Basterds the film has a far more comic outlook an example of this is confidence and charisma that Brad Pitt has in the actions they do. However in St.Anna the they view their situation in a different light where they seem nervous and afraid (leading to a boring film). In St.Anna they seem to argue between each other and have different opinions with each other however in Basterds they all seem to get along great and work very well together.
If you have just read this yes I really did not like St.Anna and it doesn't help I'm defending Basterds.
